I am going to get a center channel to add to the system, but this is not due to any limitations on the part of the SS-F7000's. I stream high-bitrate encoded MP3s through my PS3, and I can detect no distortion from the speakers.
The speakers are big and sturdy, and look great. I have these speakers running off a Onkyo TX-SR606 7.1 Channel Home Theater Receiver (Black).
The sound quality is excellent, with very deep punchy lows, and crisp faithful highs. They also pump out sound like it's going out of style.
They put out so much sound that I am somtimes worried about upsetting the neighbor (~25 yds away). Watching movies is like sitting in a theatre (even with no backends, thx, Audessey). All in all, I am extremely pleased with these speakers, so much so that I've put off buying a subwoofer as I don't feel its truly needed.
My only gripe with these speakers is lack of bi-wiring posts.
I bought these speakears about 1 month ago, I could say very nice speakers for the price, good tweeter, the bass is kind of weak, but i fixed that problem with a Subwoofer Polk PSW111 and afterwords the sound came up incredible.
They sound good for relatively inexpensive speakers. However, the base lacked fullness. I did not want a boom box sound, as I listen to Classical music. I subsequently purchased a subwoofer, which helped.
They were delivered slightly damaged. On one of the speakers, a peg was broke that held the screen on. Since the screen would still stay on and we did not notice any actual damage to the speaker, we decided to keep it and not return for replacement. speakers are good for the price.
Say what you will. Dollar for sound sony has done a top notch job compared to other more expensive towers speakers.
